How do I get started with ClassBank?

Set up your ClassBank account and classroom economy in about 15 minutes.

New to ClassBank? Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your classroom economy.

You can add additional features like jobs, bills, savings, and co-teachers as your classroom economy grows.


ClassBank Setup Checklist

Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Add your classes

  2. Add students

  3. Set up bonuses and fines

  4. Set up your classroom store

  5. Set up classroom jobs (optional)

  6. Set up bills and expenses (optional)

  7. Turn on Savings and Interest (optional)

  8. Add co-teachers (optional)

Before You Add Students

If your students are under 13 years old, you must obtain parental consent before creating student accounts in ClassBank.

1. Add Your Classes

Create the classes you'll use with your students.

Go to: Blue panel on the main dashboard

Steps:

  1. Click the + icon on the left side of your dashboard.

  2. Create each class you plan to use.


2. Add Students

Add students so they can begin earning money, saving, and purchasing rewards.

Go to: Click your class from the blue panel and select Add Student

Choose one of the following three methods:

Option 1: Class Code

  1. Select Class Code.

  2. Share the class code with students.

  3. Students go to classbank.comSign UpStudent.

  4. Students enter:

    • Class code

    • Name (optional)

    • Username

    • Password

Important: Student passwords cannot be viewed after they are created. Have students record their passwords somewhere safe.

Option 2: Add Students Manually

  1. Select Student Info.

  2. Enter each student's:

    • Name (optional)

    • Username

    • Password

Important: Teacher-created passwords cannot be viewed later. We recommend saving or printing login credentials before finishing.

Option 3: Import Students

  1. Download the student import template.

  2. Complete the spreadsheet.

  3. Do not change the column names or order.

  4. Upload the completed file.

Option 4: School Subscription

  1. Search for the student.

  2. Select their name.

  3. If they aren't listed, choose contact your administration OR ClassBank in the chat to confirm how best to add a a new student.


3. Set Up Bonuses & Fines

Reward positive behaviors and reinforce classroom expectations with bonuses and fines.

Go to: Class Setup Bonuses of Fines

🟢 Bonuses

Steps:

  • Select Add Suggested Bonuses to start with recommended options.

  • Edit existing bonuses or create your own.

  • Recommended starting point:

    • 5–10 bonuses

    • $5–$20 each

🔴 Fines

Steps:

  • Select the Fines tab.

  • Recommended starting point:

    • 3–7 fines

    • $5–$20 each

💡 Pro Tip: Bonus and fine you've preset automatically appear when sending transactions - use those to send quickly OR send a custom transaction!


4. Set Up Your Store

Create classroom rewards that students can purchase with the money they earn.

Go to: Class → Store → All Items

Steps:

  • Select Add Suggested Items to import recommended rewards.

  • Add custom rewards if desired.

  • Upload your own images or choose built-in icons.

Recommended starting prices:

  • Small rewards: around $5

  • Medium rewards: around $50

  • Premium rewards: around $100

Available with ClassBank Pro, you can also track inventory quantities.

💡 Pro Tip: Create your classroom store with your students to build excitement and ownership.

Keep your store open (toggle to open or close) so students can browse and save toward rewards at their own pace, then choose when students can make purchases (for example, weekly, biweekly, or monthly) to reduce management time.

With ClassBank Pro, you can use Student Helpers, like the Store Manager, to help manage the store and distribute items.


5. Set Up Classroom Jobs

Jobs give students a consistent source of income and encourage responsibility.

Go to: Class → Jobs → Add Job

Steps:

  • Add suggested jobs or create your own.

  • Hire students once jobs are created.

Recommended starting point:

  • Total monthly income: approximately $100

Optional: Student Job

Create a "Student" job if every student will not have a classroom responsibility.

After creating it:

  1. Hire every student.

  2. Enable Auto Pay

Optional: Turn On Auto Pay

Go to: Class → Jobs → Gear

Choose:

  • Weekly (Fridays)

  • Biweekly (1st & 3rd Friday)

  • Monthly (1st Friday)

6. Set Up Bills

Bills help students practice budgeting and managing expenses.

Go to: Setup → Bills

Steps:

  • Add suggested bills or create your own.

Recommended starting point:

  • Rent: about $80

  • Utilities: about $20

Optional: Turn On Auto Expense

Go to: Class → Setup → Bills and select the gear

Choose:

  • Weekly

  • Biweekly

  • Monthly


7. Turn On Savings and Interest

Savings helps students build long-term saving habits. Interest rewards students for saving money.

Savings

Go to: Blue Panel → Select the gear → Edit Class

Steps:

  1. Enable Savings.

  2. Repeat for each class.


Available with ClassBank Pro: Interest

Choose an interest schedule:

  • Weekly (Fridays)

  • Biweekly (1st & 3rd Friday)

  • Monthly (1st Friday)

Optional:

  • Round interest to nearest whole number.

8. Add Co-Teachers (Available with ClassBank Pro)

Invite another teacher to help manage your classroom economy.

Go to: Class →Co-Teacher

Steps:

  1. Click Add Co-teacher.

  2. Choose the teacher(s).

The class will immediately appear in the co-teacher's account.
