How do savings accounts and interest work in ClassBank?

Savings Accounts help students practice saving money, set savings goals, and track their progress. With ClassBank Pro, teachers can enable automatic interest so students can earn interest on their savings.

How do I turn on savings and interest?

Savings Accounts are available to all users. Automatic interest is available with ClassBank Pro.

  1. Click the gear icon next to your class name.

  2. Select Edit Class.

  3. Enable Savings Accounts.

  4. (ClassBank Pro) Turn on Interest and choose an interest rate (recommended: 1–3%).

What can students do with Savings Accounts?

Students can:

  • View their checking / savings balances

  • Transfer money into savings

  • Set savings goals

  • Track their savings progress

  • View their transaction history

When teachers enable interest with ClassBank Pro, students can:

  • View their interest rate

  • See interest earned

  • View projected monthly interest earnings

  • Monitor their progress toward savings goals

Does every teacher have access to turn on interest for student savings accounts?

Savings Accounts are available to all users. Automatic interest is available only with ClassBank Pro.


Yes.

Teachers can choose whether students calculate transaction amounts themselves or have ClassBank perform the calculations automatically.

This allows teachers to match the experience to their classroom goals and grade level.
