Lesson 1: Money Mindsets

Get students thinking about money and establish a baseline for their financial literacy knowledge.

Lesson 2: Classroom Economy Introduction

Introduce students to a classroom economy

Lesson 3: Bonuses

Co-create bonuses and fines (if using) so students feel a sense of investment and ownership over classroom expectations

Lesson 4: Creating Jobs

Co-create jobs based on what students see as the needs of the classroom so they feel that their contributions to the classroom are valued.

Lesson 5: Applying for Jobs

Apply for jobs and plan for when they will earn their first salary.

Lesson 6: Expenses

Introduce the idea of expenses and that they will have to set aside money for monthly charges. Allow students to start to think about basic budgeting.

Lesson 7: Store

Co-create your store based on what students will be incentivized by.

Lesson 8: Class Economy Reflection & Future Planning

Reflect on the economy as a whole, discussing what is going well and what should be changed.
