ClassBank is committed to helping teachers and schools use our platform in a safe, legally compliant way. Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), any service collecting personal information from children under 13 must obtain parental consent.

We make this process as smooth as possible by:

  • Collecting only the minimum data necessary

  • Providing family letters and consent forms

  • Supporting the use of placeholder or classroom-managed emails

Teachers and schools are responsible for ensuring consent is obtained before student accounts are created. For full details, read on or contact us at [email protected].

What ClassBank Collects:

  • Student first name and last name (or alias)

  • Username or email address

  • Password (encrypted)

  • Activity data (e.g., classroom jobs, store purchases, transactions)

What ClassBank Does Not Do:

  • Sell or rent any personal information

  • Use data for advertising

  • Track students across other sites

Using ClassBank Without PII:

To further reduce data collection and simplify compliance, teachers can use ClassBank without collecting any personally identifiable information (PII). Simply assign students alias names and usernames that do not include real names or emails—for example, name: Blue Fish, username: BlueFish1. This keeps student information private while still allowing them to fully participate in your classroom economy.
